For Dori Frankenfield-Gizinski and Lauren Tomasello, their friendship only grew stronger when Lauren recently accepted the role of being a bridesmaid in the marriage of Dori and her husband Alex Gizinski.

Hale Trailer is an organization built on deep friendships and lasting relationships. This quality can be seen in the shining example of lifelong friends Dori Frankenfield and Lauren Tomasello, whose friendship dates back to their days in preschool. Their fathers, Dave Tomasello and Joe Frankenfield are veteran members of the Hale Trailer Brake & Wheel team, working as Exec. VP and Dir. Of Sales Admin. , respectively. The girls even worked at times at Hale while in high school.

John Harris (sales representative) shares, “Meet the Hale Service team! Can anyone identify the KEITH part on the table? This is proof!”

Mike, Lois, & Emily Hartwell - "A Family Tradition"
Lois, Emily, and Mike Hartwell, 2011

In September 2010 Emily Hartwell joined the Hale Trailer sales administrative department. Though a new employee of the company, Emily has strong ties with Hale history. Her parents, Mike and Lois Hartwell, met working at Hale thirty two years ago. At that time, Lois (then Lois Weisbrot) was working as a secretary, while Mike was working as a first-class mechanic. They started dating in September of 1979 and were married in March of 1980. It wasn’t until January of 1988 that Lois left her position as head of personnel and accounts payable to give birth to future Hale associate, Emily. Mike stayed with the company as Service Manager until 1993 when he left to start his own company, JSP. Mike is working on his second tour of action at Hale. He rejoined the organization in March of 2008 returning to his post as a first-class mechanic. Lois currently takes care of the Hartwell household and is actively involved at their church, Hope Christian Fellowship. Emily recently graduated from Eastern University with her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She splits her time between Hale and Gloucester County Special Services where she works with children who have Autism and other developmental disorders. Mike and Emily are delighted to be able to work together at the same company. Worth noting, Emily started working at Hale at the same age her mother began working in the same position. Only time will tell if Emily will follow in her parents’ Hale footsteps.

Todd Perkins - "Business Can Be Personal"
Todd Perkins and His Father Edward Perkins

Hale Trailer’s Concord branch Salesman, Todd Perkins, has a very satisfied customer. Edward Perkins, owner of E.H. Perkins Construction Inc., recently purchased two new 28 ft East Genesis Dump trailers for his company. E.H. Perkins was founded in 1967 in Wayland, Massachusetts, and has been a producer of asphalt concrete and crushed stone for over 40 years. With that amount of business under his belt, Edward Perkins knows a good trailer when he sees one. It’s no surprise then, that Todd’s satisfied customer, who also happens to be his father, speaks with him every week to say how much he enjoys his trailers and how many compliments he receives about them! Edward Perkins is an example that business can be personal without sacrificing the great quality Hale Trailer and East Manufacturing are known for!

"A Friend of the Hale Organization"

Dewey Drenner
1924 - 2010

Father of Baltimore General Manager - Dennis Drenner

A Friend of the Hale Corporation, Dewey Drenner, 1924 - 2010

With great sadness we share with you that Dewey Drenner passed away in February. Many of you know Dewey from various MMTA events and outings as outgoing, friendly and very approachable.

From 1945 until his 2005 retirement, Dewey had a long and productive career in transportation and truck maintenance management (after serving in the Coast Guard during WWII). He was superintendent of maintenance at the Baltimore Transit Company, Baltimore Truck Rental, E.I. Kane Company and, in 1976 co-founded the 4-D Trailer Company, which later became Brody Transportation. At 4-D he was vice president of sales, and was a driving force in the growth and success of the company. He invented a brake safety tool called the “Dew-Mic”, patented in 1985. Dewey spent his life contributing in the truck mechanical field. Most of all he loved helping people … friends, family, employees and even strangers. He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Historical Truck Society in 2006.

Personally Dewey was a truly unique human being. His dominant persona was a strong, confident and vital man hugely proud of his family. His strong and wrinkled hands, even in his declining years, would give you a respectful, sincere and firm handshake. This was evidence of his enduring love for people. Indeed in his heroic and ordinary life he was truly the hero in his family. We are grateful in having had him for 85 years and he will live on in our hearts and endure in our wonderful memories and lessons taught.

Joey Atkins Jr.

Joey Atkins Jr., son of Joe Atkins Sr. of the Voorhees Parts Department, was awarded the Harrington Middle School "Unsung Hero Award" at his 8th Grade Graduation this July. It was one of the few times this year that Joey was able to attend his middle school. In February, Joey was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer. After slipping on the ice in a fierce winter storm, Joey broke his hip, and it was soon discovered that this form of cancer had taken root in his right knee and leg. He has spent the last several months undergoing chemotherapy and is due to have major surgery on his leg to attempt to remove the cancer. Doctors expect to remove only his right knee and shinbone, however the whole leg may have to be removed and replaced with a prosthetic in order to stop the cancer from spreading through his whole body. Students of Harrington Middle School have fully supported Joey, sponsoring car washes and bake sales to raise funds. We at Hale Trailer continue to wish Joey good luck and a safe recovery from his surgery.

Wayne Sierocinski
Wayne Sierocinski with his two new daughters, Mary and Harley

On November 20, 2009, Wayne Sierocinski of the Voorhees Parts Department and his wife Donna became the proud parents of 25 month old Mary and 20 month old Harley. Wayne and Donna happily accepted these girls into their home as foster parents at a very young age; Mary was 25 days old and Harley was just 4 days old. These lovely little girls overcame issues at birth; Mary was tested as a cocaine positive infant and Harley was born with alcohol fetal effect. Through the love and compassion of the Sierocinskis, these children have grown to be healthy, normal little girls. Wayne and Donna have had 11 miscarriages over the years, but they do have a 23 year old son of their own, Tyler. They are also currently parenting a 22 month old boy. They felt there was a calling from God to become foster parents and have taken care of many children. Initially, they had never expected to adopt, but rather they planned to raise them until these children could go back to parents that would love and take care of them. Donna and Wayne also teach a 5th and 6th grade Sunday school and work with a 3rd to 6th grade discipleship program. There they teach the students to care for others, such as creating gift packages for children going into foster homes. The Sierocinskis plan to continue acting as foster parents and hope to spread their love to other children as long as possible.

Attached is Todd Stephens of Stephens Enterprises and Roland Brotzman of Coastal Supply. They were this year’s “Big Fish” winners with each catching one about 44”. Tom’s clients with Custom Farms made it in from Ohio and each went home with a nice fish in the cooler. Schiff Farms also sent their shop Foreman. He went home with a nice one. What is it like graduating from college and going to work at Hale Trailer?

It has been a smooth transition so far. I have worked here for the past 4 summers, so I was able to jump right into working knowing all the people and having some background with the equipment. The people here are great to work with. We all have fun every day. Having a friendly and comfortable environment to work in is really one attribute that I feel is overlooked by many companies. Hale Trailer is built on the strong relationships that are shared among employees as well as with its customers. I have watched this company grow for my entire life and I am proud to say that I am now on the team. I am 22 and ready to start making deals and this is one of the best places to do so.
